NEW BUSINESS

LLC

A Limited Liability Company that legally registers your business and protects your personal assets from business-related liabilities.

EIN

An Employer Identification Number issued by the IRS. It’s your business’s tax ID number, needed for banking, payroll, and forming an LLC.

USDOT

A number issued by the U.S. Department of Transportation that identifies your trucking business and tracks safety, compliance, and inspections.

USDOT PIN

A secure PIN used to access and update your USDOT/ FMCSA records, including MCS-150 updates and other filings.

TXDOT

A state number required by the Texas Department of Transportation for intrastate carriers operating only within Texas.

MC#

A Motor Carrier number issued by the FMCSA for interstate carriers (those who transport goods across state lines). Required for operating authority.

MVR

A Motor Vehicle Record that shows a driver’s driving history, including violations, accidents, and license status. Often required by insurance companies.

OTHER SERVICES

Biennial Update – Required FMCSA update every year to keep your USDOT active.


Clearinghouse – FMCSA database for CDL drug & alcohol violations; required enrollment.


Drug Test Enrollment – Mandatory DOT drug and alcohol testing program for CDL drivers.


TXDOT Renewal – Renewal for intrastate carriers operating only in Texas.


Overweight Permit – Permit allowing trucks to haul loads above standard weight limits.


2290 – Annual IRS tax for trucks 55,000 lbs+ (Heavy Highway Vehicle Use Tax).


BOC-3 – FMCSA filing that designates your process agent for operating authority.


UCR – Annual registration for interstate motor carriers.


Certificate of Insurance – Proof of your insurance coverage for shippers and brokers.
